保羅•麥克里希指揮的《海頓：創世紀》，2009年《企鵝古典唱片指南》推薦為企鵝四星。
《創世紀》是海頓最為著名的作品，作于1797-1798年，時海頓六十五、六歲。這部清唱劇以圣經，創世紀與彌爾頓的《失樂園》為基礎，由瑪•斯維騰撰腳本，形式為3位天使的領袖加伯利、尤利爾和拉斐爾及亞當與夏娃的宣敘調，獨唱與重唱配以天使們的合唱。全劇共分3個部分。第一部分，序曲是關于混沌的描寫，海頓從不確定的c小調始，移到降D大調。然后再是降E大調，利用模棱兩可的調性及不諧和的半音和聲，描述創世前的虛無。第二部分從創世第五天始，這一天創造了動物。海頓以幽默的手法來描述鳥和獸。其中《完成了光榮的工作》是著名的合唱。 第三部分是人的創造，亞當與夏娃進入劇情，他們贊美造物主，有一段愛情二重唱非常動人。這部作品的結尾是大合唱《放聲歌唱主》。
